The Varsity Girls Soccer team capped off a memorable season with an impressive run through the Sectional Tournament, highlighted by a thrilling 4-2 win over the Tri-Valley Bears in the Sectional Semifinals. Although their journey ended in a hard-fought 3-0 loss to John S. Burke Catholic School in the Class C Sectional Finals, the Hawks showcased incredible skill, teamwork, and determination, making it a season to remember.
The Hawks were in top form during their Sectional Semifinal match against the Tri-Valley Bears. Led by the standout play of Lexi Torres, who contributed two goals and an assist, the team powered their way to a 4-2 victory. Torres opened the scoring and later added another, proving to be a major offensive threat throughout the match.
Lark Wright and Maura Cuyler also found the back of the net, with each contributing a goal to seal the win. The victory propelled the Hawks into the Sectional Finals, where they would face off against the formidable John S. Burke Eagles.
In the Class C Sectional Finals at Wallkill, the Hawks’ dream of a sectional title were dashed by the Burke Eagles. Despite a valiant effort, the Hawks fell 3-0 in a hard-fought battle. The Eagles’ defense proved tough to crack, and while the Hawks had several promising opportunities, they were unable to break through.
Goalkeeper Gwen Dampf put in a stellar performance, recording ten saves to keep the Hawks within striking distance.
